Is Better Call Saul Really The End Of Breaking Bad

It’s been two weeks since the series finale of Better Call Saul. It was an episode of television that gave viewers everything they could’ve wanted in closing the character arcs of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). And now that we’ve had time to absorb the brilliance of the conclusion, we have to come to grips with a very sad thought: this just might be the end of the Breaking Bad universe forever....

Is It Better To Reinvent Fantasy Tropes Or Pay Homage To Them

In August, we brought you the first part of this roundtable conversation between three of speculative fiction’s most exciting up-and-coming authors: Emily Tesh (Silver in the Wood and its sequel Drowned Country), A.K. Larkwood (The Unspoken Name), and Everina Maxwell. In honor of today’s publication of Maxwell’s queer space opera Winter’s Orbit, we’re publishing the second part of their conversation. In it, the writers and IRL friends have a funny and insightful conversation about elves and the value of a homage, the difficulties of writing sequels, and how to name a book....

Is It Possible For The End Of The Simpsons To Satisfy Fans

With episode 695 coming out January 3, titled “The Dad Feelings-Limited,” The Simpsons will be a little over halfway done with season 32. Its first episode debuted in December of 1989, which means the show has been around for 31 years (33 if you count its original run as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show). The finale is debatably the most important part of any story, just like the getaway is the most important part of any bank robbery....

Grand Theft Auto 6 S New Approach Makes Stories Like Red Dead 2 Less Likely Says Arthur Actor

Following Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games will be reportedly taking a more incremental approach to its future development ventures. What this means is that large-scale productions like Red Dead Redemption 2 may not release all at once like fans expect, instead coming in pieces. This is hope Rockstar is approaching Grand Theft Auto 6, which means the game could look very different from other Rockstar titles. Roger Clark, Arthur Morgan’s actor who spent five years working on Rockstar Games’ open world western game, expressed genuinely cautious hope regarding Rockstar’s new development approach....

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Adds Expensive Pet Skins

When Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery added pets to the game, the feature was met with a mixed response from the community. Some fans appreciated the opportunity to adopt a pet and liked how pets were an additional source of free energy, but others criticized pets as being too expensive for the average player. Now Jam City has added “Pet Looks” - essentially skins for pets - that are also fairly expensive....

High On Life Is This Xbox Fps Secretly A Rick And Morty Game

Rick and Morty is arguably the most successful and popular property to come out of Adult Swim in the past decade. Ever since the show took off, its creators have adapted the series into multiple media formats (including video games). However, most of those projects sport the hallmarks of a Rick and Morty episode without being connected to the franchise. This has resulted in the occasional bout of confusion since, given how Rick and Morty works, you never really know what is a cheeky reference and what is a thread that creates an extended universe of stories....

How Chicory Handles Depression

Chicory understands my depression in ways few other pieces of media ever have. It’s incredibly rare that I see depression even remotely like my own on the screen. There are complexities to mine - it has its roots in a slowly fading gender dysphoria, for one, but mostly it’s just that I’m better than everyone else at depression. I’m kidding, but not really. That’s a big part of my depression too....

How Cruel Summer S Ending Changes Everything For Season 2

Warning: contains spoilers for the Cruel Summer finale. Buzzy teen drama Cruel Summer is one of 2021’s most unexpected delights, a wildly addictive, twisty mystery spread across three distinct timelines and featuring a pair of great young actresses at its center in Olivia Holt and Chiara Aurelia. The story, which ostensibly follows the aftermath of a kidnapping in a small Texas town, has a little bit of everything: Unreliable narrators, a nostalgia-heavy 1990s setting, a banging soundtrack, and one of television’s most carefully nuanced depictions of trauma and the lingering effect it can have on those whose lives it touches....

How Destiny 2 S New Breakthrough Pvp Mode Works

Destiny 2 will be getting a new PvP mode added to its Competitive playlist at an unannounced point in its second year. It’s called Breakthrough, and in its current development build, it focuses on teamplay and objectives over straight slaying. In some ways, it channels a bit of Overwatch’s Assault mode. As a Competitive mode, Breakthrough is a 4v4 format (which is worth noting because of the Quickplay’s recent change to fully 6v6 modes), with each team starting on opposite sides of the map....
