Horror fans ravenously dug into the Netflix anthology series The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. Both seasons took a unique approach to telling ghost stories, and were also able to build those tales around relatable characters. Unfortunately, though, it doesn’t seem like there will be a new haunting any time soon, as series creator Mike Flanagan indicated on his Twitter account. In response to a question regarding the possibility of a third season, which would likely be yet another standalone tale, the Doctor Sleep director said there were “no plans” for any future chapters of the show....

A new TV adaptation of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser in the works at HBO. The television series reportedly already has David Gordon Green, who directed 2018’s Halloween, in place to helm the first few episodes of the show. Green will help kick off the show, setting the tone and pace for the first few episodes which will be scripted by Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty. Both writers bring a wealth of experience to the project, with Verheiden having previously worked on Battlestar Galactica and Daredevil, and Dougherty having written Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Trick r’ Treat....

In a surprise announcement, Hearthstone game director Ben Brode revealed that today will be his last day working at Blizzard. In a letter written to the Hearthstone community, Brode says goodbye and gives thanks for the “laughter and fun we shared.” Blizzard has yet to comment or confirm the news, leaving Hearthstone momentarily without an official game director. The bulk of Brode’s letter is spent speaking warmly about Hearthstone, and thanking his coworkers and the community....

One of the biggest surprises during PlayStation’s June PS5 event was IO Interactive’s newest entry in the beloved Hitman franchise: Hitman 3. This game will conclude the latest iterations of games as a trilogy, and it seems that IO Interactive is wanting to pull out all of the stops for the conclusion with plenty of new features, such as VR support on PlayStation VR. VR gameplay for Hitman 3 was confirmed earlier this month during a Sony State of Play....

The Freeform drama Cruel Summer is undoubtedly one of the best TV series of 2021, an addictive teen thriller with a story spread across three distinct timelines and an ending that manages to feel both completely inevitable and deeply shocking. (Plus, there’s the amazing 1990s soundtrack – truly a gift!) Set in the aftermath of a kidnapping in a small Texas town, Cruel Summer follows the story of Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt), the high school queen bee held captive in her vice principal’s home, and Jeannette Turner (Chiara Aurelia), the former dorky nerd who remakes herself in her frenemy’s image in the wake of her disappearance (and is accused of failing to report her abduction)....

Hell hasn’t quite frozen over on the Vancouver set of Marvel’s Helstrom but it’s close. A chill can be felt even inside the fabricated walls of St. Teresa’s Church as Tom Austen, who plays the titular Daimon Helstrom, sits down to talk with the press. It’s February and the show is months from its release date but Austen is already wearing the classic “Marvel leading man undercover” look, with a logo-less black hat atop his head....

After all, few shows are brave enough to sideline one of their leading characters when they don’t have to –Supergirl’s decision to leave Kara Zor-El in the Phantom Zone for half its final season is a glaring example of the many ways such a move can go wrong even with the best of intentions – but Legends just goes for it, stranding team captain Sara Lance on an alien spaceship hundreds of light years away from her friends even as it uses her absence to explore larger truths about both who she is and who she’s becoming....

Before the release of Monster Hunter World in the west back in 2018, many people would consider Capcom’s action-RPG series to be niche compared to the company’s other juggernaut properties like Resident Evil. Not only are the games pretty complex and deep for new players, but they also take up dozens upon dozens of hours to fully complete, with most hardcore players spending hundreds of hours on each entry. Monster Hunter Rise is the latest title however and players are wondering just how long it takes to beat the story....

Nioh 2, the prequel to 2017’s Souls-like action-RPG from Team Ninja, is out now on PC and PlayStation 4. Just like its predecessor, Nioh 2 is a quasi-historical game, set at the height of Japan’s warring states period. Players take on the role of a mercenary who is part human, part Yokai, a type of Japanese Ghost/Demon. Throughout the course of the game, players visit many strange places and fight some terrifying enemies inspired both by Japanese mythology and actual events....

Tifa Lockhart is considered by many to be the first lady of Final Fantasy franchise and she recently returned to mainstream attention in Final Fantasy VII Remake. It’s easy to recreate her combat style in Dungeons & Dragons, as there are an abundance of magical monks in the game. Tifa is one of the members of AVALANCHE in Final Fantasy VII, which constantly puts her at odds with the Shinra Corporation....

It’s been almost three years since the initial release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the people over at GOG.com have made the first title in the series, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, available for free. Of course, there are a couple of things that need to be done to successfully secure a copy of the game and traversing the unnamed continent. Firstly, players need to download the free to play Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, which itself is a fleshed out version of the card game in the main series....

Nintendo’s Switch eShop continues to grow with a robust lineup of enjoyable, colorful titles. With so many options (and no rating system), it can be tough to sort through the clutter and pick out the software worth your time and money. The vast range in pricepoints only adds to the confusion, as titles can vary from full-priced $60 epics to bite-sized $1 indies. As a rule of thumb, we find the $20 price point to be a nice middle-ground in this regard....

This coming Tuesday, May 24th marks the 10 year anniversary of Valve’s announcement for Half-Life 2: Episode 3, promising it to be released by Christmas of 2007. For years, fans have joked that Valve “can’t count to three,” and it’s hard to disagree with that sentiment. We have yet to see a third Left 4 Dead game, we haven’t seen Portal 3, and so far, Valve has only released Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2....

Rockstar Games fans have long been comparing Grand Theft Auto V with the Red Dead Redemption games, from its online components to other factors, with connections often drawn between the games, and it appears fans are now theorizing a time travel link between Grand Theft Auto V and the Red Dead games as per some convincing in-game content. First and foremost, time travel is established within Red Dead Redemption 2. In the game, there is a character named Francis Sinclair who is met through a side quest in which players are to find a number of rock carvings....

With the wild popularity of games like Epic Games’ Fortnite and Bluehole Studio’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds sweeping the planet, many other companies are attempting to capitalize on the current battle royale trend in its own products, as even older titles like Dying Light have put out its own twist on the genre. Of course, this interest in battle royale modes doesn’t extend exclusively to AAA developers. As it so happens, even the modding community is jumping in on the craze, with one example being a recently crafted mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 that adds single player battle royale....

Obsidian Entertainment’s early access title Grounded is getting its largest content update planned yet. Obsidian announced back in July that Grounded will get monthly updates up until the full release. This month, developers have announced that the update will take a little more time, however, a public playtest opens today for all players. Although the content update has been delayed, Grounded Creative Director Adam Brennecke has shared details surrounding the next update and what the future holds for Grounded....
