Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery was one of the most popular mobile games for some time, and while it’s not nearly as popular as it once was, some lapsed players may be finding themselves returning to Hogwarts in light of recent global events. As millions of people around the world practice social distancing due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery developer Jam City has announced an “Energy Happy Hour” event in the game....

When it was announced that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was being worked on by Niantic, developer of Pokemon GO, all eyes appeared to be on them to bring gamers of all crowds an authentic mobile Harry Potter experience. As Harry Potter is a franchise beloved by many, and as Pokemon GO was a worldwide success, Niantic seemed to be equipped to make mobile device owners feel as close to a wizard as possible....

The second half of December is here, which means it is almost time for part two of this month’s Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Brilliant Event to kick off. The current action is focused on the Adversaries event which is putting the spotlight on the new feature that pins players against iconic villains from the magical franchise, but next week it’s time to get back in the Christmas spirit again. Hogwarts for the Holidays Part 2 takes the action back to school and offers players some very exciting bonuses and features to take advantage of over the next week....

Much like Pokemon GO, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has been making a ton of temporary changes to the mobile AR game to keep players engaged this spring and early summer. It’s pretty challenging to stay active in a game that usually requires meeting up in groups and walking around cities during this period of social distancing and stay-at-home orders, but Niantic is working hard to keep the community engaged. In addition to changing events to be playable from home and altering the game’s spawn rates and locations, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is also making some other quality of life improvements to make the mobile AR experience more enjoyable during this period....

While Pokemon GO players are preparing for this weekend’s massive GO Fest 2020 anniversary event, witches and wizards in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite are also experiencing a big week. There may not be an event that over a million users are buying tickets for, but the recently announced new skill trees are available in the mobile AR game and players are able to dive into the new feature starting this evening....

Turtle Rock has kept its community in the loop when it comes to the studio’s upcoming co-operative shooter, Evolve. For the developer, the community is one of their main focuses, with the intent being to keep players around as long as possible by constantly giving them new things to do. After the release of Microsoft’s new Xbox Series X, the company surprised audiences with a second next-gen console: the Xbox Series S. Similarly to Nintendo’s release of the Switch Lite last year, Microsoft decided to follow up its new console with a smaller version at a more affordable price point. Just as with the smaller Switch, the Xbox Series S has some differences from its sister console. Perhaps the most obvious change is the absence of a disc drive (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing with Xbox games available for digital download as well as through the Xbox Game Pass)....

Before Mihoyo’s Genshin Impact, there was Honkai Impact 3rd. It’s been out since 2016, and as far as mobile action games go, I count it among the best. It’s a brilliant blend of RPG elements, intense 3D mecha action, and a story on par with Genshin’s. Prior to my absolute dedication to Genshin Impact, I had a short stint playing Honkai. To this day, Death Stranding remains divisive, with players either loving the game’s unique Strand gameplay or despising it for its slowness and lack of overall action. However, most that have played the game agree that it has a strong story with an excellent cast of characters, and that includes the protagonist Sam. While much of his backstory is told through collectibles and late game reveals, it is a powerful tale, and Norman Reedus does a fine job portraying the damaged character....

Not exactly the best kept secret, but Microsoft and Xbox finally announced the long rumored Xbox Series S. Being billed as the “smallest Xbox ever” with next-generation performance, the Xbox Series S has proven all of the leaks were absolutely true. This is the budget Xbox for next-gen at $299, compared to the now-confirmed $499 Xbox Series X. While the term “budget” generally means less powerful technology, the difference between Xbox Series S and Series X isn’t massive....

VALORANT, Riot Games’ shiny new FPS, is in a unique position to draw players from a wide variety of gaming backgrounds. Some new to the multiplayer FPS genre entirely have become interested in the game simply due to Riot’s pedigree as a company capable of producing a quality gaming experience. That said, they will inevitably have to contend with competing against players who have hundreds of hours of experience in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or other, similar tactical shooters....

The celebration of Pokemon Sword & Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC, which is out now, goes on. Every few days Game Freak gives players a special code to use in Sword & Shield. This code allows the player to get one special Pikachu as a mystery gift. All of these Pikachu are wearing Ash Ketchum’s cap from the various seasons of the cartoon. Cuphead fans should take note of a new controller from PowerA that brings the zaniness of the game to your fingertips. Sporting an orange and yellow look, this accessory has some of the cartoonish explosion effects that are found in the game when enemies are defeated. Cuphead, in his own wacky world, is just rolling on by with a big smile on his face. When it releases next week, the controller will be wireless and holds up to 30 hours of gameplay with two freshly juiced up AA batteries inserted....

We’re all still finding our footing in the inspiring, but also at times terrifying, world presented in the early access version of Grounded. However, there are a few locations around the map you’ll want to make sure you take a trip out to find as soon as possible. If you play through what is available of the game’s story, you will be guided to visit one of the game’s Lab locations, but there are actually two more the game won’t tell you about....

Halo Infinite is easily one of the most highly anticipated games releasing this year. After being teased for so long and finally being given a look at gameplay last year, a lot of fans of the series could not be more excited for the release of Halo Infinite. Although, a lot of new content for the game has recently been revealed, including screenshots of some familiar weapons. Earlier yesterday, new details regarding Halo Infinite were leaked, but now it seems that all of those details were released to the public via Halo Waypoint....
