For once in what seems like eons, we have a rather positive story to share about game development. Following the lift on embargoes this morning for reviews of Sony’s upcoming PS5 exclusive Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, two employees from developer Insomniac Games stated that the team didn’t once face crunch while working on the new sequel. Both Grant Parker (Game Designer) and Lindsay Thompson (Animator) have slightly different wording, but they both speak highly of the studio and how it treated its employees during production....

The rocket boosters of Grand Theft Auto Online’s Pegassi Toreador have a limit to how many times a player can use them while out of water. The vehicle already functions as both a car and submarine, so to prevent it from dominating the skies, GTA Online’s developer Rockstar Games limited the boosters with a cooldown period. While in water, the boosters recharge almost immediately, but it takes much longer for them to refill while on land, and they don’t refill at all while airborne....

Halo 3 was the first game in the franchise to incorporate terminals, eight lore-based collectibles that give players insight into the Halo universe’s history. The terminals in this installment are unlike the terminals in others. Instead of unlocking cutscenes like those in Halo: CE Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary and Halo 4, they are text-based for your reading pleasure. Fun fact? These terminals, while still activatable in the Chinese version of The Master Chief Collection, do not actually work in that version....

Since the worldwide premiere of Halo Infinite gameplay last month, the discussion around the game has had its ups and downs. While it is hard to not get excited for or at least curious about a new Halo saga, fans are unsure about certain changes and additions, and whether this new take on Halo can find its footing. A recent leak on the Microsoft Store seemingly revealed that Halo Infinite‘s release date is officially set for December 8th. That leak has since been verified by multiple outlets citing their own sources who have independently confirmed that information. On the one hand, this release date feels like a sigh of relief. Halo Infinite was supposed to be the Xbox Series X/S biggest launch game (it was even prominently featured on the Xbox Series X’s retail packaging), but when developer 343 Industries announced in August of last year that they decided to delay the game to 2021 due to “development challenges” that included the “ongoing COVID-related impacts,” they created a void in the Xbox library that was entirely understandable given the circumstances but heartbreaking to many nonetheless....

When the Harry Potter RPG leaked back in October 2018, it promised fans would finally get their chance to become a Witch or Wizard, go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, craft potions, master spells, discover fantastic beasts, and battle Dark Wizards. However, it made no mention of the many extraordinary magical objects that would be incredible to interact with. There’s definitely a few that would be great to see in the Harry Potter RPG, while keeping in mind that each magical object needed to exist in the game’s rumored 19th-century setting....

One of the coolest demos of Microsoft’s entire E3 2015 press conference was a look at Minecraft running on the company’s HoloLens device. Allowing players to literally transform their tabletop into a playground, the game seemed perfectly suited to the hologram-centric technology with potential to drastically revolutionize the way we interact with the gaming medium as a whole. In it’s current state, however, it’s lacking the immersion that its showings thus far have implied....

The recent PlayStation State of Play event featured the reveal trailer for a surprisingly intriguing Robin Hood PlayStation 5 (and PC) game called Hood: Outlaws & Legends. “Hood is not one person. It is an idea. A symbol to the people. A legend,” says game director Andrew Willans via the PlayStation Blog. “Because we are retelling a legend rather than being historically accurate, we have created our own version of Dark Ages Britain, a time when old-world myth and superstition compete with man-made power....
