Based on a memoir by former Marine and Yale Law student J.D. Vance, Hillbilly Elegy is the story of Vance’s family, a sprawling clan who live in southern Ohio and also have deep roots in Kentucky. The movie focuses on both Vance’s childhood and his formative years as an adult, with the emphasis on the impact of two women on his life: his troubled, drug-addicted mother Bev (Amy Adams) and his stern, no-nonsense, foul-mouthed grandmother Mamaw (Glenn Close)....

After many rumors, it wasn’t exactly surprising to see a new Horizon game debut at the PS5 reveal. There’d been various mumblings around the internet about a Horizon trilogy and a sequel coming to PS5, so it didn’t come as a shock to see Horizon: Forbidden West was the confirmed sequel. The first film in the Fear Street trilogy has landed on Netflix with the following two movies arriving weekly. There’s a terrific little scene at the end of Episode 3 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law when Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), is walking through a deserted parking lot at night and is suddenly attacked by a quartet of extremely rough-looking customers. It’s a scenario that every woman dreads, and Jen’s own reaction at first is one of fear – until she realizes that she is now in a position to handle this kind of attack in a way that we imagine anybody, man or woman, would want to: she Hulks out and makes short work of her attackers, sending them scurrying back into the darkness and licking their wounds rather than absconding with a sample of their victim’s gamma-radiated blood, which was apparently their goal....

Earlier this month Last of Us 2 actor Shannon Woodward expressed interest in the next BioShock game being set in space. With two games set underwater and one set in a floating city, space could well be the natural third option for the fourth game’s setting. However, while BioShock 4 is reportedly in development at new studio Cloud Chamber, the setting and story of the next game has yet to be revealed....

Thanks to the power upgrade of the latest generation of Xbox consoles, five Bethesda titles, such as Fallout 76, Skyrim, and Dishonored Definitive Edition, can now benefit from a frame rate boost. The boost only applies to Xbox Series X and Series S consoles and must be turned on manually for certain games, such as Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. The news comes just a few days after Xbox’s successful acquisition of Bethesda and its studios, bringing lots of the studios’ work onto Game Pass....

The next iPhone has finally been revealed. The iPhone 4S launches October 14, just two days after Apple rolls out the hotly anticipated iOS 5. Pre-orders kick off October 7. Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff has fired the first shot at fellow MCU star Chris Hemsworth and what’s more, she’s done it in song, en francais. In the spoof music video co-written and directed by Mission Impossible co-star Simon Pegg, Pom not only makes fun of Thor’s “teeny tiny hammer”, she takes a swipe at the Falcon calling him “a fat pigeon.” The song ‘Au revoir Chris Hemsworth’, based on the french yé-yé song Laisse tomber les filles (“Stop messing around with the girls” written by Serge Gainsbourg and originally performed by France Gall) also refers to Chris Evans’ infamous Instagram incident and calls The Avengers a “troupe of phallus tips”....

ArenaNet, the studio behind Guild Wars, has announced to staff today that it is planning significant layoffs in a widescale restructuring of the company. No exact figures have been given, but rumors in the studio are that a significant number of people are likely to be out of work. Songyee Yoon, the CEO of NCSoft West, who own ArenaNet, was said to have emailed employees with the news. The email states “Our live game business revenue is declining as our franchises age, delays in development on PC and mobile have created further drains against our revenue projects, while our operating costs in the west have increased....
