ODST probably has my favourite solo campaign of Microsoft’s shooter franchise. It doesn’t match the groundbreaking ambition of Combat Evolved or the epic circumstances of Halo 3, but it does deal in the more personal aspects of the Covenant invasion. We’re so accustomed to playing as almighty space marines saving the world that we seldom stop to consider the people on the ground, those left to pick up the pieces once the hero has saved the day and moved onto another fight to finish....

It leaked last week but now Epic Games has made it official: in-game tournaments are coming to Fortnite starting today and running through the end of the month. These tournaments will pair players across Fortnite and task them with earning points. Points will be awarded based on a player’s performance in their matches. According to Epic, players can earn points either by racking up kills in a single game or finishing towards or at the top of the leaderboard....

Showrunner Jon Favreau, executive producer Dave Filoni, and the rest of the team have done a great job of incorporating lore from every era of the Star Wars saga in ways that make sense. Folding in elements fans know from A New Hope, for example, adds to the show’s sense of groundedness, showing us the weathered sci-fi locations that George Lucas made a staple of Star Wars while also picking up several loose threads unresolved after Return of the Jedi....

Ubisoft has confirmed Hyper Scape’s Season 1 and console release date. Ubisoft has revealed Season 1 of its sci-fi battle royal, Hyper Scape. With the reveal of season 1 dubbed “The First Principle”, Hyper Scape will now be officially out of the open beta. The open beta was only available to PC players, but season 1’s release changes that. Ubisoft also has revealed the official release date of the Hyper Scape’s console edition, which is set to be released at the same time as the season 1 release....

I’m a real sucker for sci-fi, but something that absolutely makes or breaks it is worldbuilding. As well as being new to the Yakuza series, the recently released Legendary Edition is my first foray into the world of Mass Effect - I’m sorry. Fortunately, coming to the series later than everyone else has allowed me to view its universe with fresh eyes. For example, I love the way Mass Effect just drops you into a galaxy filled with aliens and synthetics, although the fact so much of the lore is buried in codex pages is a little frustrating....

Over the past month, NetherRealm Studios has been on a breakneck pace revealing characters, thanks in large part to multiple trailers being published every week. As it stands now, only one character remains unannounced on the roster, and thanks to the recent achievement list posting for the game, the final spot has now been confirmed. Xbox community guru Major Nelson is preparing for the next big convention, Gamescom 2019, which will have a major Xbox presence. Nelson has confirmed that not only will Xbox be bringing 200 gaming stations to demo a broad range of Xbox One and PC games, but this year’s Gamescom will also play host to the next Inside Xbox presentation. Gamescom 2019 will run from August 20 through August 24, with Inside Xbox airing August 19 at 8:00 am PT....

2020’s first Inside Xbox episode will air tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7th, at 2pm EST, with plans to share details on what everyone has been waiting for… Sea of Thieves updates. Besides Sea of Thieves - a game that is currently free to play on Xbox Game Pass - the Inside Xbox team will be providing updates on Gears Tactics, Game Pass, along with some “surprises” from the ID@Xbox team. Additionally, although Jason Ronald - Director of Program Management for Xbox Series X - is expected to discuss the already revealed tech specs, there will probably not be much in the way of any new news surrounding the Xbox Series X....

Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases in less than a month, and Insomniac is giving us a closer look at two of the new suits we’ll be able to don in the upcoming title. Depicted as a page in the Daily Bugle Now, the developer showed off both the Crimson Cowl Suit and the T.R.A.C.K Suit – both of which look like great additions to the Spider-Man wardrobe. Just like Cartoon Network and Disney Channel, Nickelodeon has been around for most of our childhood. Whether you were around for the 90s Nicktoons or got into the 2000s era, Nickelodeon had something for everyone.
