After players experimented with attacking the neutral Shopkeeper, she quickly rose in popularity. Any developer that puts an armed player-character and friendly NPCs in the same room is simply asking for violence....

Xbox Games Studio Double Fine was a major part of Microsoft’s Xbox Series X showcase earlier this month thanks to a psychedelic Psychonauts 2 trailer starring Jack Black, which happened to confirm the long-anticipated game has been delayed once again. The developer has a 20-year history leading up to Psychonauts 2, and digital storefront Humble Bundle is celebrating that anniversary through a charity bundle stuffed with games. The bundle, which primarily supports the disability advocate-focused SpecialEffect and summer camp program Girls Make Games, offers five titles for anyone who pays just $1 — including the original Psychonauts....

When I briefly tried World of Warcraft, my friends talked me into playing a paladin. It was fun up until we went into our first dungeon together. As the rogue went down, I got chastised for not pulling enough aggro and not monitoring their health better. When I later played League of Legends, I trended towards assassins with movement abilities. I could swing jungle or support, but top lane never clicked....

Sony Interactive Entertainment may have a fifth main installment in its Uncharted series in development, if a couple of very brief clips in a promo video are being interpreted correctly. With the Scholomance Academy expansion out for less than two weeks in Hearthstone, Blizzard has already announced a few highly anticipated nerfs to Mindrender Illucia, Kael’thas, and several Battlegrounds cards. Mindrender Illucia will retain both the same card stats and text, but now costs three mana, up from two. The card has been a force of power and frustration since launch, and the speed of this nerf points to Blizzard internally seeing a truly dire situation at the highest levels of play to move so swiftly....

With its release just weeks away on July 17, Ghost of Tsushima is gearing up for launch after a brief delay – it was initially planned to release June 26, which would have left it coming out just days after The Last of Us: Part 2. Now that July is right around the corner, though, it’s time to take another look at this immersive historical fiction game. Ghost of Tsushima is set in the year 1217 on the titular island of Tsushima....

Death Stranding was one of 2019’s most divisive games. Some praised it as the work of a genius, pushing the medium forward in new and inventive ways. Others saw it as a glorified walking simulator. But no matter the final score on each review one thing is for certain — Hideo Kojima probably read it. Reportedly, Kojima has an “encyclopedic knowledge of Death Stranding’s review scores.” That really shouldn’t surprise anybody....

Hogwarts Legacy, an upcoming action RPG developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under its Portkey Games label, is scheduled for release for Microsoft Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in 2022.
