The final month of the year is here and it’s a big one for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite fans. The holiday season has always been an important part of Harry Potter lore, so it’s no surprise that the mobile AR game goes all out during December to bring the magical spirit of Christmas to its player base at the end of a long fall. As always, December will bring a two-part Brilliant Event for players to work through (the first half is already underway) and there will be a full daylong Community Day event, as well....

Hearthstone‘s Battlegrounds mode will receive a new ratings and rankings system that will be added to the game as part of the upcoming 18.4 patch. The foundation of the new rating system is fairly simple. Basically, everybody’s Battlegrounds rating will be reset to 0 regardless of where they currently are. Following the reset, players will work their way through new progression tiers. However, your progression won’t really kick in until a player has reached over 2000 rating points....

The next HeroClix set, coming in December, is X-Men House of X. Multiple outlets have received pre-release bricks of the set, allowing them to reveal new figures and abilities for the first time. Season 5 has just dropped for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, bringing with it a ton of new content between the multiplayer game modes and Warzone. While the battle royale mode saw some significant map changes, specifically in the opening of the stadium and train station locations, as well as a new armored train that rotates around the map, traditional multiplayer saw its fair share of updates as well. Four brand new maps joined the rotation, including Suldal Harbor, Petrov Oil Rig for 6v6 matches, Livestock as a new Gunfight map, and the Warzone-inspired Verdansk Int’l Airport added to Ground War....

Earlier this week data miners teased Grand Theft Auto Online players with the promise of loot themed after Red Dead Redemption 2. It was 30 years ago that TriStar Pictures released Total Recall, a sci-fi action movie directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronny Cox, Sharon Stone, Michael Ironside, and Rachel Ticotin. An Iranian news channel mistakenly posts footage from Medal of Honor, confusing the in-game clip as an actual combat video from Hezbollah snipers. Six years after Medal of Honor bombed out in the gaming industry’s equivalent to the box office, the game has unexpectedly popped back up again. An Iranian news agency has accidentally posted some modified footage from Medal of Honor as an actual news item, evidently thinking the modified gameplay clip was actual combat footage....

The turn-based roguelike role-playing game Darkest Dungeon made a huge splash when it released onto the indie scene in 2016. It became so popular that developer Red Hook Studios announced a sequel, and it also inspired Russian studio Unfrozen to create their own rendition of the idea with a game called Iratus: Lord of the Dead that officially left Steam early access today after releasing in July 2019. Iratus is essentially the inverse of Darkest Dungeon, allowing the player to take control of a necromancer unexpectedly released “from an eternal prison” who uses their army of the dead to kill heroes and take over a corrupt world....

Not too long ago, after decorating certain portions of the map with spooky decorations, Epic Games teased that a bigger Halloween event is on the way in its wildly successful multiplayer sandbox survival shooter, Fortnite. As part of the forthcoming festivities, it now looks as if the video game developer is potentially teasing the return of the revolver to the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of the title. As seen in the tweet below, Fortnite fans can get a gander at a gloved hand holding a revolver, with Epic Games having added a portentous piece of rhymed verse below the image that tells players to prepare themselves to “Take the shot”, presumably with the aforementioned gun once it returns....
