The Pokemon franchise is designed around single-player experiences and PVP multiplayer battles. It’s not built for the group party dynamics of a game like Dungeons & Dragons, but the monsters from Pokemon can still be used as enemies for parties to face. To this end, we have statted out the Rattata line for use in D&D adventures. Rattata is considered to be the original junk Normal-type Pokemon, which only exists to fill out the Pokedex....

Mewtwo was intended to be the most fearsome Pokemon in Pokemon Red & Blue, but all challenge was taken away by the presence of the Master Ball. A Dungeons & Dragons party will have no such luck if they run afoul of Mewtwo in some mysterious dungeon. Mewtwo was the product of bizarre gene-splicing experiments performed on the DNA of a Pokemon named Mew. It was easily the most powerful Pokemon in Pokemon Red & Blue, and it existed as one final challenge/reward for the players who managed to defeat the Champion....

Of all the B-movies that have grown, survived, flourished, and then declined well beyond their first installment with an unending string of preposterous sequels, none have been quite as colorful as the Underworld movies—the ones that feature Kate Beckinsale in skintight leather fighting werewolves. Despite enjoying a nigh monochrome visual scheme of blacks and pallid whites (occasionally punctuated by supernaturally tinged glowing blue eyes or spurts of scarlet liquid), the Underworld franchise has often sought to infuse a bit of prestigious highbrow blood into its B-movie veins....

I first heard about Warframe way back when it originally launched in 2013. DayZ is an important example to game developers and publishers in how important community creativity is. It’s a shining example of why many PC games should include and support modding features. DayZ began as a free mod based on Bohemia Interactive’s ARMA 2 but it ended up being more popular, more talked about, and now has more potential than the actual ARMA series. The Assassin’s Creed franchise has released a new game almost every year since Assassin’s Creed 2 was released back in 2009. When the first game released in 2007, there was already criticism that the segments set in 2012 felt out of place, with many fans simply wanting to immerse themselves in a historical period piece without the science-fiction element introduced by the animus. There is a bigger problem with Assassin’s Creed’s premise, however, which has drastically limited the ability of the games to tell compelling stories with a new game released every single holiday season....

Thankfully, the day of obligatory overpriced movie tie-in video games came to a halt in recent years. Now we get cheaper, downloadable titles and mobile apps instead. Still, most of them aren’t very good. Even 2013’s Guillermo del Toro film Pacific Rim got one from Yuke’s and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment which released as a downloadable for PS3 and Xbox 360. It wasn’t good. At Comic-Con International 2014 in San Diego last week we had a chance to try out something which may be offering a tease of something spectacular on the gaming front for Pacific Rim in the near future....

In celebration of Halo‘s upcoming 20th anniversary (as well as the upcoming release of Halo Infinite), Microsoft has announced that they’re releasing a limited edition Halo-themed Xbox Series X console as well as a special Halo-themed Xbox Series X controller. While the controller is amazing, it’s the Xbox Series X that’s the real prize here. Not only does it look incredible (the console’s metallic panels are accentuated with gold trim, stars, and Halo-themed designs), but given how hard it is to currently find an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, any opportunity to purchase a next-gen console is more valuable than ever at the moment....

Spartans are the best of the best when it comes to dealing with the Covenant, the Flood, or anything else that threatens the safety of humanity. It’s the reason why Master Chief has always been the frontrunner for the Halo series, and for good reason. Apart from ODSTs, Spartans are the tip-top of active duty personnel in the UNSC. At least until the events of Halo: Reach, most of humanity would’ve assumed all Spartans were unstoppable....

Game Rant goes hands-on with Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the game that could very well be the quintessential four-player co-op game of this generation. Shooters in general seem to be a dime a dozen nowadays. This is the case so much so that many fail to standout, but Ghost Recon: Wildlands is one that immediately struck me as something different when it made its existence known at E3 2015. The world the game claimed to immerse users in didn’t seem all that spectacular in and of itself at the time, but it was the four-player co-op elements that made me genuinely intrigued to see more....

Now, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m an enormous Potterhead. I’ve read the books, seen the movies, collected the Pop! Figures, played the fairly questionable video games, got the fancy spangly Hogwarts crest lamp beside my bed… when it comes to Harry Potter, I’ve been there and done that. Even the biggest fans of a franchise, however, tend to have misgivings. When a beloved series is adapted for a movie, lots of us will go in there with our judgmental hats on....

As the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite community concludes the first week of the First Year at Hogwarts Brilliant event, it’s already nearly time to jump right into the game’s next event. Once again, this month features a Wizarding Weekend and this time around witches and wizards will be celebrating some of the Wonders of the Wizarding World during the two day event full of bonuses and special rewards. The upcoming Wizarding Weekend event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite kicks off on August 21 and tasks players with spending a weekend encountering some iconic wizarding wonders from the novels and films in the mobile AR game....

Horror movie director Ari Aster has made a name for himself with the films Hereditary and Midsommar, and now he’s looking forward to his next project. Aster recently shared what horror fans can expect from his new movie, describing it as an R-rated “nightmare comedy” that will be four hours long. It’s possible that Aster was just joking when he said that his next movie will be four hours long, as that’s one aspect of his films that has been criticized by some....

The poster child of the 1980s fantasy board games is back! Yes, that’s right children, HeroQuest has returned! Time to celebrate, play the music, cut the cake, and… what? Wait? There’s a… ok, we have a problem. HeroQuest is a fantasy dungeon-crawler-lite board game released in the UK in 1989 where it was embraced by the tabletop gamers. It was the love child of Warhammer creator Games Workshop and Milton Bradley....

Sony and Guerilla Games are showing all new gameplay for Horizon: Zero Dawn, including uncorrupting robot animals for mounts and battling in an open world. Walking into today there was no bigger or more anticipated PlaySation 4 exclusive than Horizon: Zero Dawn, and while that may change considering today’s announcements, Horizon: Zero Dawn still looks spectacular. Lucky for PlayStation fans, Guerrilla Games has only intensified the feeling. Today they took to the PlayStation E3 2016 press conference to show an extended gameplay demo for Horizon: Zero Dawn....
