It’s the most exciting advancement we’ve seen in gaming since the invention of cloud gaming, yet most players likely have no idea what it means. Frankly, it’s understandable. Maximizing visual performance is a passion of mine, but even my eyes glaze over at the laundry list of graphics settings in the pause menu of any given game....

If you’ve logged into Genshin Impact recently, you may be familiar with a new little addition to the game in the form of Sheer Cold. NetherRealm Studios officially releases brand new footage detailing the combat abilities of the heroine Supergirl in the forthcoming fighting game Injustice 2. As most Injustice 2 fans will likely recall, Supergirl has been confirmed as a part of the game’s roster ever since NetherRealm Studios unveiled the title’s existence with its official reveal trailer. Since then, though, fans have only been given a relatively brief look at her abilities with a short bit of gameplay footage, which has surely prompted the developer to show off even more of Supergirl’s powers and maneuvers by way of a brand new video that focuses on her in action....

It might not be exactly what we’re looking for, but pet lovers are about to get a December treat thanks to Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ winter update. Puppy Plushies are coming to Nooks Cranny, and they’re semi-animated. Fans of Nintendo’s life sim have been yearning for in-game pets since the game released at the start of the year. With no news of furry companions on the horizon, fans will have to make do with Toy Day’s Puppy Plushies....

Following its reveal last year, Battlefield 1’s first trailer ended up becoming YouTube’s most popular game trailer of 2016, beating out the likes of fellow first-person shooters such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and DOOM. With this being the case, it’s safe to say that the footage’s prominence at the forefront of the gaming community’s collective mind led to the YouTuber known as Kubstoff to demake the video by animating it in the Microsoft Paint application....

Without a doubt, Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most memorable and successful video games of all time, and Rockstar Games’ open world crime title continues to sell well far beyond its launch back in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As it so happens, the action-adventure release keeps moving so many units that it managed to beat every single game on the sales charts for August 2017 except for Madden NFL 18, with the EA Sports football title taking the top spot....

Games can often change drastically during development, moving away from the creators’ original vision and toward something potentially even better. The developers of Hades recently gave an interview where they revealed the game had a different main character than it does now. The current main character of Hades is Zagreus, son of Hades, God of the Dead. The game follows his attempts to escape from Hades, the Realm of the Dead, and the game’s intense action, likable characters, and gripping narrative have all lead to it being the best-reviewed Steam game of last year....

After nearly 4 years in development, Crowbar Collective is finally reading to release their original take on the Xen chapters from Half-Life. The chapters will be released as a free update to Black Mesa, the Half-Life remake first released in 2015. Upon release, Black Mesa included the entire campaign of Half-Life, faithfully recreated in Valve’s Source engine, up to but not including the final hours of the story, known as the Xen chapters....

Lyra’s side mission was characterised by terror and grief, Serafina Pekkala’s first appearance was grave and sorrowful, and our introduction to Will Parry added a sombre social realist thread to this fantastical story. Stopping the grief from becoming suffocating, there were light moments, and warm ones – at least in Lyra’s world....

If you’ve been a little wary of VR gaming in the past, perhaps this impressive showcase might be enough to get you excited about the whole idea. HITMAN 3 in PlayStation VR is going to be one heck of an experience. Whether you’re a staunch advocate or a real doubter, there’s no denying that VR gaming has incredible potential. Or that it hasn’t even come close to realizing much of it yet....

The Sanderson Sisters are back! After 29 years, Hocus Pocus 2 is now on Disney+. At the time of the original film’s release, a sequel probably seemed like a total long shot. Critics panned Hocus Pocus, and box office numbers weren’t exactly spectacular either; it’s believed that the film may have lost about $16.5 million in its original theatrical run. Still, Disney continued to air the film annually on the Disney Channel and Freeform (formerly ABC Family), and a generation of kids was practically raised on the spooky season staple....

If you had to describe a Viking climbing up a ladder, what would you say? I reckon they’d probably look like they’re moving a bit slow, right, but they’re actually just doing three rungs at a time, lurching back to gain extra leverage every time they propel their hand up to a seemingly unreachable height.
