Every March around the time of GDC, the Independent Games Festival (IGF) celebrates the best games and developers on the indie scene. Chances are if you want to play something that’s not chock full of micro transactions or loot boxes, you’re likely to find it here. The IGF also hosts the IGF Awards, which are given to the absolute best independent games. To give an idea of the kind of games that have won the Grand Prize at the IGF before, previous winners include Papers, Please, Her Story, Quadrilateral Cowboy, and Night In The Woods....

In September of last year, reports broke out about a stuntwoman who sued the producers of the Resident Evil film franchise after suffering serious injuries while on-set. During the filming of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, stuntwoman Olivia Jackson met an unfortunate accident during a failed motorcycle stunt on-set that left her in a coma for 17 days and resulted in an arm amputation. Now, it has been reported that Jackson successfully won her lawsuit against the movie producers....

In Insidious Chapter 2, Patrick Wilson enjoyed the job of having the most fun. Although some gamers have been likening Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice to the Dark Souls series, due to its punishing combat system, the bulk of the progress through the game is actually made by solving puzzles. Mastering combat is important to avoid the terrifying permadeath possibility, but knowing how to solve puzzles is just as important. There are a variety of puzzle types in Hellblade, which all build on each other throughout the game, but one of the primary recurring puzzle mechanics is hidden runes....

Epic Games’ battle royale Fortnite is an international sensation that constantly expands upon its success by partnering up with various other properties and figures in popular culture. One of the biggest examples of this was a tie-in with Disney’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that let players see a scene not in the film prior to its release late last year. However another huge draw to the game was a concert held by EDM artist and DJ Marshmello in February 2019 that hosted over 10 million players according to entertainment news sites like The Verge....

Many of us replay the same games more than once or even return to games we loved years ago because it seems like every time we play we discover something new to enjoy....

The Hobbit trilogy was intended to capitalize on the wild success of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. Based on the original book by J. R. R. Tolkien, the films would see the story that inspired Lord of the Rings split into three blockbuster films using all the fancy special effects and CGI that had been developed since the first three films. When it came out it did fairly well financially, but fans and critics were disappointed in the overall experience, complaining that the films were overlong and lacking the heart of the Lord of the Rings films....

Sony Computer Entertainment reveals 8 minutes of a brand new gameplay walkthrough for Guerilla Games’ forthcoming open world action RPG, Horizon Zero Dawn. During today’s PlayStation showcase at Paris Games Week 2015, Sony and Guerrilla Games’ senior developer Mark Norris debuted a fresh walkthrough demo for Horizon Zero Dawn, offering a closer look at prior footage that until this week had only been shown behind closed doors. While the video is similar to that of the trailer shown at E3 2015, fans are given a glimpse at a few new features like looting, different ammo types with materials for explosive arrows called “flamecoils”, and more....

The one responsible for its creation is Jon Everist, a talented award-winning, ASCAP-nominated composer. He is particularly well-known for his fantastic work composing for Battletech (2018,) though he’s certainly due for plenty of new attention thanks to Disintegration’s powerful music....

Way back in September, DC’s second FanDome event dropped a huge announcement: DC Universe, the all-encompassing DC entertainment streaming app that featured comics, movies, and TV shows from the DC catalog, would narrow its focus to comics, becoming an app called DC Universe Infinite. The new app launches on Jan. 21 and brings with is a slew of changes, many of them for the better — at least if comics are what you’re looking for....
