I love photo mode. I know basically nobody agrees with me, but I think it’s the most interesting addition to gaming in the past five years or so. It’s the first thing I look for whenever I start a new game - I even asked Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s director about why Insomniac goes so hard on them. So naturally, I was pleasantly surprised when Resident Evil Village included a photo mode....
The WWE 2K games have never been good. Sure, they’ve bordered on passability once or twice, but ever since the PS2 days, wrestling games have basked in a pool of mediocrity that they almost seemed determined to remain in. The franchise has only worsened in recent years, culminating in the complete cancellation of 2K21 due to the bugs, glitches, and general lack of polish that hindered its predecessor. It left the wrestling genre in a state of limbo, with nobody else stepping forward to take the mantle....

I don’t go in for all that “play the game four times on each difficulty for a Trophy” nonsense, but generally, I like to sweep a game up before I’m finished with it. Jagex – the team behind RuneScape – recently went on a massive hiring spree, picking up talented developers from PlayStation, Bethesda, and Insomniac Games. The three new members of the team are expected to help facilitate rapid growth throughout the rest of 2021 and play a critical role in expanding the number of titles in the Jagex catalog. It’s no secret that Jagex has been making some big moves as it plans to expand, with a few different buy-outs taking place over the past year....
Epic’s lawsuit with Apple has revealed various company policies, data, and plans not just for the two companies, but others as well. It was Microsoft’s turn, as a confidential document revealed that the company would reduce it’s cut on Xbox Games. As pointed out by Eurogamer, the document in question is titled Microsoft Store Policies & App Store Principles, and says “All games will move to 88/12 in CY21". This would be a major move, considering that Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo all currently take a 30% cut on digital game sales....

It was recently revealed that Professor Xiaoxing Lu, who won a Grammy as part of the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sound department back in 2001, worked alongside Genshin Impact’s music team in order to produce the game’s beloved Liyue soundtrack. Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV revisits Liberty City as a way to usher in the company’s HD generation of gaming. The metropolis Niko Bellic moves to in the 2008 title is infinitely more detailed than the prior iteration of the New York-inspired city in 2001’s Grand Theft Auto III. Anybody born in the Big Apple or who has lived there for a significant amount of time will appreciate the attention to detail Rockstar put into Liberty City and how accurately it represents the real-life inspiration....
First of all, I only started watching Haikyu last night. Second of all, I went to sleep at a ridiculous hour last night because I watched way too much Haikyu. What I mean is, Haikyu is not only good, but genuinely excellent - never in all my years did I think I’d lose sleep over an anime about volleyball. Apparently the pandemic has transformed me into a bonafide weeb, and I couldn’t possibly be happier about it....

Recent gameplay demos of Harvest Moon: One World show off a new gameplay feature, multiple regions each with its own farms, introducing a number of innovative characteristics along with it. Many have been skeptical of Harvest Moon: One World’s overall quality in comparison to other major farming sim games such as Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons, the franchise that started it all. Several fans have criticized One World and believe that many of its elements were simply copying Story of Seasons, attempting to cash in on the famous brand name without delivering the overall quality....
Blizzard’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has just launched another successful expansion in the Journey to Un’Goro content addition, which features 135 new cards and some exciting new mechanics. Despite being relatively well-received by Hearthstone’s competitive community, however, the new launch hasn’t been without its issues. There was a game-breaking Hearthstone bug present in the first few days of the Journey to Un’Goro release, and now players have begun to suspect that the rate of duplicate cards being given out in the game’s packs is higher than it was previously....

Maid of Sker managed to find a fair amount of traction when it debuted last year, combining its first-person survival horror gameplay with a unique, welsh folklore-inspired setting. The game focused on players navigating enemy-filled environments with no weapons to defend themselves, using a combination of stealth mechanics and sound devices that could stun foes. It seems the developers behind the game wanted to offer a more liberating experience for those who beat Maid of Sker’s campaign, now adding a variety of combat-focused scenarios where they can get payback on their monstrous tormentors....
